Dining at August London High School
Our school cafeteria provides nutritious meals for our students during school days. The cafeteria staff works hard to offer a variety of tasty and healthy options. Lunch is served Monday through Friday, with a range of choices available each day. Our lunch offerings typically include a main entrée and vegetarian option, a salad bar with fresh vegetables and toppings, a deli station for custom sandwiches, fresh fruit, and milk and water.
Our cafeteria staff can accommodate many special dietary needs, including allergies and dietary restrictions. Students or parents should contact the School Health Office to discuss any specific dietary requirements.
For special school events, such as prom or end-of-year celebrations, our cafeteria team creates memorable meals that add to the festive atmosphere. Many of our alumni fondly recall these special meals when they return for school reunions or other events.

Student Leadership
Students develop valuable leadership skills through our student government, the Student Activities Committee, and by serving as Peer Mentors or Student Ambassadors.
**Peer Mentors**
The Peer Mentor position is a highly respected student leadership role at August London High School, awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and character.
Each spring, juniors and sophomores interested in becoming Peer Mentors complete an application and participate in an interview process. The Principal appoints all Peer Mentors.
**Student Ambassadors**
Similar to Peer Mentors, Student Ambassadors provide leadership and help maintain a positive school environment during study periods and school events. Student Ambassadors must exemplify leadership qualities and set a positive example. They are selected from the rising sophomore, junior, and senior classes.
**Student Activities Committee**
The Student Activities Committee is a group of students who assist in planning school events, Spirit Week activities, the Homecoming Dance, and other social gatherings. This group has organized outdoor movie nights, field days, and several themed dances throughout the school year.
**Student Council**
August London High School's Student Council consists of a President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer, along with two elected representatives from each class. This group addresses, assesses, and resolves important student topics with faculty guidance.

Clubs and Activities
At August London High School, students have the opportunity to explore their interests through a wide variety of special interest clubs. These range from academic pursuits to creative hobbies and sports.
Some of our clubs, such as the Debate Team and the Science Olympiad, participate in competitions against other schools. Other student organizations focus on on-campus activities and interests, such as the Cooking Club, Chess Club, Environmental Club, Art Society, and Drama Club.
We encourage student initiative, and new clubs can be formed when students want to share their interests and passions with their peers. This allows our extracurricular offerings to evolve with student interests and ensures a diverse range of activities for all students.

Advisor Program
A key factor in student success at August London High School is our Advisor Program. This comprehensive educational initiative is dedicated to each individual student, encompassing academic guidance as well as social and emotional support.
August London High School's mission is to nurture and inspire our students to become responsible citizens and independent young adults, embodying the following core values: Empathy, Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, and Enthusiasm.
Advisors serve as the primary point of contact between the school, students, and parents. Students meet in small groups and individually with their advisor to discuss various aspects of school life and personal goals. Advisors keep parents informed of student progress through regular updates on school life, personal growth, and academic performance. Parents are encouraged to contact advisors at any time, and advisors commit to establishing contact with parents at least once every two weeks.

Health and Wellness
At August London High School, health care is provided by our registered school nurse, in collaboration with local healthcare providers when necessary.
Students who are ill during school hours visit the Health Office, where they receive care and supervision from our nurse. Students are not permitted to remain in classrooms if they are too ill to participate in lessons.
All faculty and staff members are certified in First Aid and CPR, ensuring that students' health needs can be addressed promptly at any time during school hours. For after-school activities and events, designated staff members are always available to handle any health-related concerns.
